Want a queue of customers waiting to get into your salon? Multi-visit vouchers could be the answer…

Every salon business wants more clients. That’s a given. But how best to get them? Well, I’m always telling salon owners there’s no ONE way to get a hundred new clients, there are a hundred ways to get ONE client, and you’ve gotta use as many of them as you can.

One way is a system called ‘Multi-Visit Vouchers’. They give you MUCH more control over the process than the Daily Deals. It works like this:

1) Working with a suitable distribution company, you put together a series of special ‘try this treatment’ packages.

2) the company goes away and designs the multi-visit voucher, and gets it printed. The company pays all the costs of doing this.

3) The company sends out a sales force into your local area, targeting women who work in local businesses (i.e., have a job, and therefore an income!)

4) Over a period of say, 12 months, the company might sell 1,000 of these vouchers. They keep the money, because they paid all the expenses. You get a steady stream of prospective long-term clients trying out your services, giving you several opportunities to turn them into long-term clients.

Unlike the ‘Daily Deal’ sites, you get to control the days these deals are available (i.e., your sparsely-booked days) and you get to control the rate at which they are sold.

One company we’ve researched heavily – and many of our Member salons are using – is Adstar, with offices in Sydney (Australia) and Winnipeg (Canada). According to Australian salon owner Kena Vaccaro of The Sanctuary Beauty Clinic in New South Wales, using multi-visit vouchers has tripled her business in two years.

In Canada, salon owner Dave Gibault has had a similar experience, boosting his business dramatically using multi-visit vouchers. Dave talked with WSM’s Canadian director Catherine Hanson…
